Sharpe's Second
UKRAINE [AUG-DEC 1993]
COMPANY/ ENEMY/ HONOUR
The second series was shot entirely in the Ukraine; easier for veterans of the first tumultuous year, but still a trial of spirit and endurance.
It was the first time we were to shoot three episodes in a row having dropped one script the previous year due to the McGann/Bean switch. We also acquired a new Wellington, as the former (David Troughton) actor playing the Duke vowed never to return to the Ukraine.
The Chosen Men began to have a little more visibility on screen and ITV started to realise they had a hit show on their hands as proved by the casting of 'faces' such as Alice Krige, Michael Byrne and Liz Hurley.
